Pennsylvania House Democrats have a Plan for PA, a New Way Forward that puts People First with Good Jobs, Quality Schools and Fair Taxes.

When you work more, you should earn more

The hardworking people of Pennsylvania who put in 50 or 60 hours per week and play by the rules should be paid fairly so that they can support their families and gain economic security. That’s a core value of the House Democrats’ #Plan4PA. For too long, the rules have not been in their favor.

In a previous post we discussed legislation introduced by Rep. Patty Kim to change the rules for low-wage workers and increase the #MinimumWage to $15 per hour by 2024. But there are other factors to fair wages.

Today, Governor Wolf announced a plan to strengthen middle-class families by changing Pennsylvania’s woefully outdated overtime rules. The change would benefit nearly half-a-million people in the Commonwealth who work long hours but are getting less reward.

The governor’s plan updates regulations that will make hundreds of thousands of salaried workers eligible for the overtime they deserve.  Starting on January 1, 2020, most salaried workers earning less than $32,000 would get overtime pay, with increases to the income cap in the future.

This plan gives more workers a chance at improving their lives and supporting their families.  When workers earn more, they spend more, growing the economy throughout the state.

Join us in supporting Gov. Wolf’s proposal to ensure overtime pay for hardworking people. It’s all part of the #Plan4PA.
